From Strippers & sw’rs At O-Pole

“As a stripper it is super helpful to learn new moves, combos, and styles that I can apply on stage. This helps me be able to dance to a wider variety of music and appeal to more customers.”

I have been doing sex work on and off for around 4 years. As a trans person I have always struggled with personal intimacy and sexuality; sex work gave me the opportunity to explore those parts of myself. My desire to expand my sex work into stripping has grown and blossomed seeing so many talented strippers as well as taking my first pole class. I would love to be able to show more people that nonbinary people who look like me exist as sex workers. As scary as sex work is, I find it freeing and empowering for me, as a nonbinary person. I don’t plan on giving it up anytime soon. :)”

“I always need my guard up when stripping. It is dangerous work. I experience judgement for being a stripper whereas I’m told that I’m cool for being a pole dancer. Pole dance originates fron stripping. We need to credit Black strippers who created the moves and aesthetic that the pole dance community benefits from today. I highly recommend listening to the following Black strippers:@bammrose @babycakes_creates @risquesdivinetemple @coco__copper”

Transparency: How it Works

This scholarship fund works by donation and by studio events that donate towards the fund.

whatever money is in the fund will be used 100% to cover the cost of classes, which will then be immediately added to the accounts of stripper & sw’r students who have applied for scholarship.

Example: if $60 in the fund, 2 names will be selected to receive a $30 credit towards their pole education. Punch-card members = $30 drop-in class added to their account. Unlimited members= $30 taken off of their next payment.
